Artist-Use Grid Power!

By art coach | October 30, 2007

This method of working has been done through out the ages. It is a way to capture your drawing and then enlarging it to the pre-determined size without the use of a projector. The grid has also been used to determine proportions and scale. The drawing below shows the artist Albrecht Dürer using a grid to make a perspective drawing of a women (1525) notice the grid surface that the artist is working with. The artist has now only to concern them-self with what is only inside each square and also has a frame work to help in making the drawing. Courtesy of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
