Jeanette Cates Also Got Us Excited About Online Success

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

It had been a busy yet productive day. I was tired from teaching a 3 hour art class. My wife Rosie asked me If I wanted to commit to several hours of a webinar training that would help us to learn more about setting up our online businesses. Plus, she said, it could help you to help other artists get excited about using the internet to promote their art.

Now I admit that there was a time when I had did not even want to consider using a computer. I mean Photoshop was not part of my vocabulary. (Smile)When my wife asked me if I wanted a computer or a cruise. I took the cruise. But finally the following year we brought the computer. Change can be hard to do.

Later we both through our association with National Speakers Association became exposed to several internet marketing and information experts like Tom Antion, Terry Brock and others. We have gotten learned a great deal and still learning.

But the recent program we had with Dr. Cates was a hands on launch into a deeper level of blogging and and reinforcement of other online strategies. Although we had been blogging with Blogger we really did not get into a deeper level of blogging until we were introduced to Wordpress. Now we continue to learn with Dr. Cates and my friend Cathy Perkins the word press wizard.

I agreed and it was one of the best learning investment decisions we ever made. We signed up with Dr. Cates and her online success program. I encourage you to check it out and push yourself to another level. It may mean a few hours away from your masterpiece but it will only increase the opportunities for others to see your work.

Click on the link above to get more information.

And the learning goes on and on. I hope that I can pass on to you more of the things that I am learning and have learned.

Now be aware of one thing, we have a goal set for 70 posts ( Including podcasts) in 30 days. So you will see several posts in your email. So stay tuned and send us your blogging questions.

Tom Antion Got Us Started!

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

We were not always thinking about techi stuff. One day my wife came home from an NSA(National Speakers Association) Chapter meeting in New York. She was excited. I thought she had seen a celebrity while she was in New York. Well, actually she did. She heard Tom Antion a professional speaker and internet guru.

She shared what she learned and it opened a new door of opportunity and knowledge. And the good news is he has a great information association that allows you to join at any level of technical experience.  So my fellow artists and art lovers if you want to get a reliable and safe internet marketing information you can trust check out the Netaim Internet Information Marketing Association.

Please note, I only recommend things I use or have benefited from.

Changing My WordPress Banner Part 4

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Posting banner into Blog using Bluehost.com FTP works great. And it is easy.

Changing My WordPress Banner Part 3

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

How I Changed My Wordpress Banner PT. 2

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I just wanted to make some additional points related to my change of the header. As I do more there will probably be more postings.

  • It is important to look in the theme folder for the images folder. The file was called banner.jpg
  • The file name must remain the same regardless of what changes you are making with the image. You do not want to mess up the code the designer has done. Now, I do not know php yet so a mess up could be a major event
  • All the file modifications were done in Photoshop. I added layers and a drop shadow.
  • I saved the art with the Photoshop file name to keep it as a master on my desktop. Always keep a copy with all the layers so that you can make changes in case things do not work out. Then I did a SAVE AS with the same file name in jpg to my desktop.
  • I took the file out of the wp image folder and replaced it with my new version.
  • I used a great FTP program with my host, Bluehost to re-install the image folder to my Wordpress site.

Thanks for listening, Email me with any questions.
