Collage making-glue type and surface

I was recently asked a question via email regarding glue type and surface for use with a collage. My response was as follows:
If the photos are glossy then I would recommend using a gel medium gloss. Apply the medium to the board and place your art onto the medium. Then apply a coat of the medium over the artwork.
This is the same process you can use to seal the finished work.
In answer to your second question regarding what surface to mount the artwork I would suggest You can use masonite board. Lightly sand the masonite and then apply a coat of gesso to prepare the surface. You can also use canvas board, double weight illustration board, wood, or mat board
