Hand Drawn to Digital Enhanced-Making of Blogging Betty Boomer Cartoons
By art coach | August 26, 2007
My wife and I have a site for boomers who blog. We decided to create a character that will speak for blogging boomers at different levels of experiences and expertise.
I made the first drawing of Blogging Betty Boomer in pencil. I did several rough concept drawings in my sketchbook. After I did the drawings I create watercolor paintings on hot press arches paper.
I outlined the drawings after the paintings were done with Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen. I liked the consistency of the lines and the way it works over the water colors
The call out bubbles I made on the initial drawing without the text included. The image was scanned into Photoshop. The key reason I brought it into Photoshop was so that I could create the border, size it and write the text in the bubble. How is that for digital and old school drawing working together?
I am going to stop now. Please leave your comments and if anyone is interested I will go into detail showing you a video tutorial.
