Some Technical Stuff
By art coach | July 7, 2007
I decided to upgrade the microphone I was using on My Crumbsnatcher DVD. I switched to a Blue Snowball Microphone with a USB connection. I did this because the other microphone was not delivering a clean sound. A pop filter was also added to take out the pops. This was was recommended by Cherece Glover, a neighbor and friend who reviewed the first DVD. She is also had some audiovisual experience so I really valued her advice.
I increased the output level of the microphone (the gain) by using FIRMWARE which is a free download from the http://www.Bluemic.com.
Note: This microphone is really great for pod-casts also, more on that in another post when I do some.
A set of inexpensive headphones (Koss) were used to add the vocals to the track. This way the sound from the speakers would not pick up in the microphone. I made that mistake the first time and the music was on the vocal tracks and adjustments could not be fine tuned.
Do not forget to turn of the phone’s and mute the sound on all computers in the area. In addition if you are working at home put a note on the door so the doorbell will not ring(smile)
Note my set up in the picture.
